The Providence VA Medical Center recently completed construction on its new Surgical Suite.  This new, state-of-the-art, $10 million Surgical Suite is approximately 14,000 square-feet in size and includes three new general operating rooms, an Angiography procedure room, a Cystoscopy procedure room, a minor procedures room, an 11-bed Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and surgical staff support rooms.  The Suite,  which is expected to open in November, will allow the Medical Center to consolidate a number of surgical functions that are presently located in different parts of the main hospital building.

The Providence VA Medical Center continues to modernize its infrastructure to provide eligible Veterans with the comprehensive brand of care they deserve.  Some recent additions and enhancements include a new Research Center for Restorative and Regenerative Medicine, a recently-renovated Inpatient Mental Health Unit, a new 3.0 Tesla Magnetic Imaging Unit Suite, and a second Audiology Suite co-located with the New Bedford Community Based Outpatient Clinic.  Future modernization projects include a new Emergency Department, a new Intensive Care Unit, a new Specialty Clinics addition, and a new Outpatient Pharmacy.

For information about the new Surgical Suite or the Providence VA Medical Center, please contact Tom Antonaccio, Public Affairs Officer, at telephone (401) 457-3369, or visit www.providence.va.gov.
