Lowe’s Heroes Project Donates Two Storage Sheds

Storage Shed

Donated Storage Shed at the Providence VA from the "Lowe's Heroes Project"

Monday, February 25, 2013

Last summer, Ruth Schleifer from Lowe’s Home Improvement contacted Dana Senay-Miranda, a Vocational Rehab Specialist at the Providence VA Medical Center.  She explained how--as part of its commitment to the community--Lowe’s established the ‘Lowe’s Heroes Project’ and, each year, seeks to identify a project in the community for which Lowe's volunteers can volunteer their time.  Dana consulted with the Veterans in the Medical Center’s Veterans Resource and Recovery Center (VRRC) and, together, came up with the idea of a storage shed for the Horticulture Program.  Not only did Lowe’s provide the shed but also some needed gardening tools and other accessories.  They also agreed to construct a storage shed at the Bristol Veterans’ Home in support of the Veterans in the Veterans Transitional Supportive Program (VTSP).

Six months later, both projects became a reality.

The Providence VA Medical Center wishes to thank Lowe’s Home Improvement and its volunteers for their heartfelt gifts of time, energy, and commitment on behalf of our Nation’s Veterans.
