If you qualify for VA health care, you can get high-quality mental health services as part of your benefits. You may also be able to get care for certain mental health problems even if you don't have VA health care.
Mental Health Services at Providence VA and its satellite clinics at Middletown, RI, New Bedford, MA and Hyannis, MA are available to treat Veterans with many different Mental Health needs. Anyone who is new to care here will have their needs assessed in an initial evaluation and treatment recommendations are provided based on the information discussed at that appointment. Treatment options may include: Individual and group psychotherapy, as well as medication and other specialty treatments, and treatment planning is based on an assessments and the collaboration between the Veteran and the provider.

Emergency Access and Information
Suicide Prevention Services:
At the Providence VAMC you can reach the Suicide Prevention team during normal hospital hours by calling Jeanne Smith, LICSW at 401-273-7100. Please click on the link above for more information. You can use the crisis line if you need immediate attention any time: 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1.
Urgent Care Clinic
The Urgent Care Walk-In Clinic is an easily-accessed venue for evaluation of new or emergent mental health conditions and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am through 5pm for urgent problems that cannot be handled by the Veteran's team or problems that will require admission. Located in the Main Hospital on the 3rd floor, B wing (3B).
After-Hours Mental Health Emergencies
The Providence VAMC is here to support our nation's heroes day and night. Urgent Admissions for psychiatric care can be arranged after hours through the Emergency Room on the first floor of the Main Hospital Building.
