Dr. Cornell has research interests in aging, long-term services and supports, and post-acute care. Her focus is on using quasi-experimental and econometric methods to evaluate policies and health-care interventions. Recent and current work include evaluating dementia care in assisted living; estimating the effect of nursing home quality ratings on outcomes among Medicare patients and Veterans in community nursing homes; describing trends in hospital admissions among Veterans in community living centers; and evaluating a program to increase case-management services for Veterans in rural areas.

Dr. Cornell completed her Ph.D. in Health Policy at Harvard University and an M.S. in Public Heath at UNC-Chapel Hill.
