Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki visited the Providence VA Regional Office (VARO) and the Community College of Rhode-Warwick Campus, meeting with both employees and student-Veterans.  While at the Regional Office, Secretary Shinseki received a presentation on an on-going pilot program to automate and manage the claims process--part of the Secretary's initiative to "break the backlog."  At CCRI-Warwick, Secretary Shinseki spoke with faculty leadership as well as members of the Providence VARO about the very successful "Vet Success" program on campus (Rhode Island has two of the eight Vet Success program throughout the country).  During a focus group session, Secretary Shinseki praised student-Veterans for answering the nation's call to serve and said he wanted them to graduate and use their knowledge, leadership, and experience to help revitalize the nation.  To read more about the visit, please click here
