Providence VA Medical Center Receives Award for Patient Safety

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) recently recognized the Providence VA Medical Center as a Bronze Award Recipient for its fiscal year 2010 Cornerstone Recognition Program.  The Cornerstone Recognition Program was initiated by the NCPS in 2008 to enhance root cause analysis (RCA), a non-punitive method to identify the most fundamental reasons a safety-related or “near miss” incident might have occurred.  RCA’s are important to help us provide the safest care to our Veterans and to continuously improve.  The Providence VA Medical Center was one of several VA healthcare facilities throughout the country to receive this recognition--a direct reflection of our staff’s commitment and dedication to provide our Veterans with safe, high quality healthcare.
