National Salute to Veteran Patients
PAWS (Pawtucket Red Sox mascot) visits with Veteran Charles Agnew
Last week, the Providence VA Medical Center celebrated National Salute to Veteran Patients. Several dignitaries visited with Veterans at the Medical Center, presenting them with Valentine’s Day cards and letters crafted by local school children. Guests included Governor Lincoln Chafee, Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Roberts, Brigadier General Brian Goodwin, Providence Mayor Angel Tavares, Theodore Low (Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army), Daniel Evangelista (Chief, RI Division of Veterans Affairs), and PAWS (Pawtucket Red Sox mascot). Channel 12 and Channel 6 were also on station to capture this experience.
The National Salute to Veteran Patients program encourages all Americans to visit and volunteer at VA medical centers and to send letters of thanks or valentines to those who have protected our nation.
